Why Clean Your Airducts?

The Environmental Protection Agency claims that indoor air has been found to be up to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air. Now consider that most people spend between 60% to 90% of their time indoors. That can mean that you are breathing air that has been recirculated through your furnace filter and airducts.

The last time you changed your furnace filter, did you notice dirt and dust inside the filter housing? Dirt dust, mold, pollen and animal dander are recirculated through our air ducts every time we turn on our heat or air conditioner. Combine this with moisture and you have the ideal breeding ground for fungi, germs and household mold. Studies have confirmed that some diseases, including salmonella, strep, and legionnaires disease are spread by contaminated air ducts.

If you have an air circulating system that utilizes a standard fiberglass filter, pets or have a smoker in the house, suffer from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory problems, experience headaches, or irritation to the nose, throat, or eyes when in your home, then your homes health could be improved by cleaning your airducts! Why not improve the air you and your family are breathing?

There are many benefits to cleaning your air duct system. Cleaning the air ducts can reduce the amount of dust and debris in your system. The brushing, vacuuming and the sanitizing can also control mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria that can aggravate allergies, asthma and other respiratory problems. We have a very thorough air duct-cleaning process:

We remove the vent covers and wash each one. We use a large industrial vacuum system, which operates outside. We bring in an indoor hose and we guarantee no mess in your home. A brush is attached to the end of the vacuum system then we apply it to each vent opening, brushing and vacuuming the entire length of each air duct, brushing the interior air duct walls while we vacuum. We go all the way through the plenum, which is the area where all the air ducts attach together with the furnace. We then remove the brush and apply the vacuum again to make sure all the debris has been removed. Next we clean the large cold air returns the same way.
We then check your filter. If you have a washable filter, we will wash it for you. If it is a disposable filter, please have a new filter ready and we will change it for you. If you are looking into getting a new filter, we offer high quality washable filters that carry a lifetime guarantee. Please ask the technician for more information. We also wipe down the motor area and the outer walls of your furnace.
We also sanitize the air ducts. We use an electric atomist fogger; this allows the sanitizer to fog in. This process helps control mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria that can develop in the system due to condensation. The air duct cleaning lasts approximately three years on most homes.
